Laverne Cox is best known for her role as Sophia Burset on the Netflix original series, Orange is the New Black. For her role in the show, Cox was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. However, before landing a recording role on OITNB, Cox was a trained actress who made several small appearances on television shows and movies, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Bored to Death.
