Everton are locked in another relegation scrap this season and Sean Dyche has been tasked with keeping the club up.

The Toffees only just survived last term, finishing four points above the drop zone after a torrid campaign.

Their struggles then continued this season and Frank Lampard paid the price for their poor form in January as he was shown the door.

Dyche is now in the hotseat and his side have improved their results at home, however, they remain deep in the relegation battle.

The Toffees are sat in 17th, just outside the bottom three and only above the drop zone on goal difference.

How long have Everton been in the top-flight?

Everton are one of six English clubs who have never been relegated from the Premier League since its creation in 1992.

The others are Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea, so they are part of an elite group.

In fact, Liverpool, United, Spurs and Chelsea have all been relegated from the top-flight of English football more recently than the Toffees.

Arsenal are the only club with a better record as they haven't gone down since the 1912/13 season.

The last time Everton were relegated was in the 1950/51 campaign and they have been in the top-flight since 1954/55.

The Toffees are one of England's most recognisable clubs and the Premier League would be much worse off without them.

As they hope to stay up, manager Dyche is keen to not have to rely on luck heading into the final stages of the season.

Ahead of Everton's huge clash with Fulham this weekend, he said: “We’re trying to build something here that can be down to us, what we’re doing, what we’re playing like, what we’re achieving. That’s the main focus.

“Woany (assistant manager Ian Woan) has a good saying: ‘There has to be a future in it’. As much as you will take a lucky one and you’ll take one when it’s not your day, but you still win or you get a point and all that – of course you take those over a season, they’re still important.

“But you want to see a performance, you want to see a team that is performing in the right manner with the right things to go and win games, and that’s certainly a more important factor rather than just hoping for the best with other teams’ results.”
